I think it's because you have an indentation with the dash ?
Hi,
same observation as @bepolymathe. When I suppress the indentation, text is rendered normally.
On the other hand, the result does not seem to be rendered as code, but simply with a fixed-spaced font.
There are three types of code blocks which are all rendered differently - Basic Syntax | Markdown Guide
4 indents block
single backtick (inline code)
triple backtick fenced block
