What issue do you have?

I created a new note, added some stuff, selected some text, pressed the "bold" button to bold some text.

It's not rendering the bolded text in the viewer to the right; only the actual source code. I've looked at everything in the menus and toolbar, toggled some things, but still never see the rendered view. What am I missing? (see screenshot)

@YouveGotMeowxy welcome to the forum.

If you start a line with 4 spaces or a tab it tells Markdown to treat the line as unformatted text. This is like code but without the code highlighting. As a result any Markdown entered in that line is then treated literally and not as a Markdown instruction.

AH! Learn something new everyday :laughing:

I guess I'm used to the StackOverflow way where indenting 4 spaces denotes syntax highlighting.

Is there a way on Joplin to shift all selected text to the left? (and right, if chosen)?

From this page it seems that CRTL+] indents any selected text by "one indent unit" and CTRL+[ "dedents" (is that a word?) by one unit.

YOU. ARE. THE MAN! :raised_hands:

Now I'm off to see if that's a common hotkey in more apps, cuz I use that ALL the time! TY
