What issue do you have?

Has something changed in Joplin?

Until recently, I could copy Markdown text from ChatGPT and paste it into Joplin. There, it was displayed with all formatting and structure intact.

However, recently the text in Joplin is only displayed with formatting marks, not in a visually appealing format.

Have you recently switched from markdown editing to rich text editing? (three dots > edit as md/rt). This would explain your issue.

I've enabled everything related to Markdown in Joplin's settings.

The problem must be with the new editor.

If I paste the following line from the clipboard ...

Example sentence

... the text remains as is, even when I switch to the view.

If I then delete the space after the two hash symbols and reinsert it, the text ...

... is displayed in H2 size.

Hi,

For testing and comparison purposes I am curious to see what would happen if you pasted that same text that looks large into a plain markdown editor. I have a few markdown editors installed on my phone that I use periodically for different tasks and it's possible that if you paste into one of those it will correctly acknowledge the type of text it is and create a heading and if it works you can paste that into Joplin.

BTW where did the text originate from that you are expecting to import as a heading? Having some text import as a heading and other text import as regular text it's not straightforward unless the originating text has the proper formatting codes in it.

If you are ever interested in importing the contents of a web page URL into Joplin there is a very fine program in Google Play that you paste into it the website URL say its a news article, it grabs the contents of the URL you give it and converts it to markdown and gives you a button to copy the clipboard and then you paste into joplin.

Its called Markdownr. It does only one thing, converts a URL of HTML into Markdown.

I know it sounds like a pain to do on a regular basis but it's to eliminate Joplin as the problem or is it the cause?
