Hello everyone,
I wonder if you have a comparison of a sync peforrmance between the Joplin Cloud and Dropbox.
I wonder if it's worth a switch + sometimes, the dropbox sync hangs (something with probably race conditions on locks) and I'm able to recover from this state by deleting the locks manually from dropbox. There probably isn't such a possibility with Joplin Sync, is it?
Another question, out of interest - is Joplin Cloud popular? I wonder how many users it has. Is it like a garage-based service that may disappear tomorrow or does it contain a decent user base?
Ive been using Jolplin cloud daily for a couple of years now and it's pretty seamless. Downtime has been extremely minimal. If it's a garage operation it's a good one. I switched from dropbox and it's a similar of not slightly better experience. With joplin cloud I never noticed any issues like the ones you mention dealing with on dropbox and I do frequently edit and sync from different machines.
Another really nice feature that Joplin cloud has that you don't get from any other hosting service or synchronization service is the ability to publish clouds to the internet. I come from Evernote and really missed this feature.
I'm transitioning from a paid version of Evernote to a paid version of Joplin and the savings is about $10 a month.
Evernote has a bit more sophistication but it's not worth the expense anymore.
I don't have a massive database like some other folks so synchronization if I started off doing on Microsoft and testing out the cloud version there's not a problem for me on either platform.
I'm just accustomed to being able to publish notes on the internet and I wanted the ability to do that in Joplin.
There is a way to publish to GitHub gist only they don't dynamically update.
