Thank you for this link / tip for reading.. Nice overview on Joplin!
I did not expect to learn something from reading that article, but I was wrong.
My takeaway: There is a plugin for colored text in notes! 
I don’t know, how I could NOT see that for let’s say two years now…

IMHO that's yet another perfect candidate for incorporating a plugin's code into the main app. For my particular use case this feature isn't all too important, but users coming from Evernote and OneNote might wonder why things like these don't work out of the box.
