Can't sign in to OneDrive from mobile app

What issue do you have?

I have been using Joplin on my android and Windows desktop for years, syncing through OneDrive, everything working fine.

Now trying to add Joplin to my new phone, without using Google Play Services. I installed Joplin from f-droid, configured the sync target as OneDrive, click on Synchronise and one of two things will happen:

  1. The Microsoft page loads, but I can't click on anything. Clicking on "Sign In" does nothing. Refresh button sometimes refreshes the page, but doesn't fix the issue.
  2. Nothing loads and I get a popup that says "Alert - Could not load page. Please check your connection and try again."

Connection is fine. I can load Microsoft OneDrive in a browser on the same phone.

Could it be that Joplin requires Google Play Services in order to sync with OneDrive?
