I have always found Joplin sync confusing. I recently decided to try Joplin Cloud and due syncing headaches in the past (using Dropbox, my local server, WebDav on NextCloud) I wanted to start fresh - but I ran into issues where I would sync all my notes from one machine, then sync a different machine and all the notes get deleted. Or I would try to sync mobile - after completely deleting the Joplin app - and end up with doubles of everything (this is the current situation on my phone, all folders and notes are doubled despite other machines syncing without doubles.
Some honest feedback, I love Joplin but have been considering switching due to the experience with sync. I decided to try giving Joplin Cloud a try to 1) support the project and 2) use the "native" sync process to finally just get things working smoothly once and for all. But the process has been extremely painful and confounding - despite doing things very methodically and carefully due to past experiences.
Is there some kind of official guide describing the sync process? I would like to understand the "official" way to sync between devices as to avoid everything I have been going through. I do love the Joplin App - and I understand and appreciate the nature of the project - but the sync process is pushing me towards transitioning to something like Standard Notes instead.
Sincere thanks for any help and also sincer thanks for all the work that goes into Joplin. It is a great app, just kind of at my wits end having spent so much time over the years dealing with syncing "quirks".
There's bits of information here and there across the forum, but to be honest no comprehensive guide for dealing with the various problem scenarios that sync can give.
But a couple of helpful guides which I've seen referenced are:
