Thanks for a great note taking app!
I’m using Joplin 1.0.143 on my Linux laptop (Ubuntu 18.04) and on two of my Android devices, my mobile (using Joplin 1.0.252) and a Samsung tablet (at home, but recently installed). I’m using DropBox as a backend with no encryption.
When pressing the “Synchronize” button in Joplin on my Linux laptop, I get the following error message:
Completed: 2019-05-15 10:29
Last error: Error: On file e5060f59bcb34a7a93882ca128383017.md: Unknown type: 13
In Sync status it says “Conflicted: 1”
Yesterday, I changed the name of one notebook, and I added one new note to that notebook, in Joplin on my Samsung tablet. Neither the name change of the notebook, or the new note is visible in Joplin on my Linux laptop. I had no problem synchronizing the changes in the notebook to Joplin on my mobile.

You have to upgrade the version on desktop. There was an update lately that allows creating a history for notes. Unfortunately this also means that have to update all apps.
The error means that it doesn’t understand what to do with a new type.
I updated to 1.0.152 on my Linux laptop and can confirm that everything works fine. Thanks.
It would be nice feature in the desktop version if there was a visible icon/hint, directly when I’ve started it, that indicates that there is a new update. I know I can use the menu “Help” -> “Check for updates …”, but a visible hint directly informing me / encouraging me to update now, would be nice. This is definitely not a must-have feature, rather a nice-to-have feature! I can register a feature request if you agree the feature is worth it.
I’m not sure, if @laurent would consider this as a feature request. e.g. for me it would be annoying to see this visible hint all the time (unless I am able to turn this off completely).

I don't think it would be worth it to be honest. Updates are checked for on start up then once every 12 hours (while the app is open) so updates will eventually reach the users.
Also please note that from now on, this error:
Error: On file e5060f59bcb34a7a93882ca128383017.md: Unknown type: 13
will be displayed as:
Unknown item type downloaded - please upgrade Joplin to the latest version
So it will be much clearer what to do.
