Spellcheck causes more problems than it’s worth

What issue do you have?

Maybe it’s me. But based on my experience, Spellcheck/AutoCorrect or whatever in Joplin is not ready for prime time. Too many unnecessary periods Are added., Too many unnecessary capitalizations, and it frequently becomes a damned fight to get control of my text. There needs to be an Ignore option, an Add To Dictionary option, along with cursor movement arrows.

Yeah I usually keep it disabled and only enable it once in a while when I specifically want to spell check.

I also don't like how in the rich text editor spell check applies to the modal code block dialogue, IMO spell check should never apply to content in code blocks.

An ignore or add to dictionary option would be helpful, there are lots of terms in my notes which get flagged as spell check unnecessarily.

I agree. I think one solution is a standard modal spell checker option, instead of continual inline spell checking (which personally I find a distraction anyway). I recently wrote this here -

Dedicated spell checker. I’m someone who generally doesn’t like WYSIWYG spell checking as I write as I find it distracting, but I like to use a manual spell check when I’m ready (ie like you can with the standard F7 shortcut in Word or Outlook). I was wondering if this would be possible in Joplin; is there already a manual dedicated spell checker dialogue in the code that could be instantiated by the user, rather than the current system? If not, is this a big task to implement?
