What issue do you have?

I've had WebDav multi sync between a desktop, laptop and mobile going well for over a year.

I got a new phone. yay. On my desktop, I backed up to a JEX file.

I configured WebDav in Joplin on Android and tested the connection. Good.

I did the first sync, which took about 13 minutes for 2400 items.

I did another sync, and it stepped through and deleted under 800 remote items. Maybe 5 minutes. I noticed files getting deleted in a browser view of the webdav file space. These were the uniquely named .md files.

On an old phone, I sync'd, and looked normal: created a few local items; 1 remote item, fetched 10, and done. Took 13 seconds.

The laptop had similar sync stats to the older android.

What might have been the 800 remote items (the uniquely named *.md files) that were deleted by the new phone on the webdav server? Orphaned data?

Maybe old note revisions? Did you enable note history after you had installed Joplin on the new phone? This is a per-device setting, but it also affects the whole sync target, so if it was disabled (or set to a shorter date than on other devices), the older note revisions would get deleted upon sync.

Interesting theory, thanks! Note history is a nice feature, but isn’t something I’d invoke. Checking my devices, note history is on with a duration of 90 days.

Unless an algorithm type of bug that didn’t do housekeeping cleanups properly. ?? Guess on my part.
