New phone, can't sync an 8400 record notebook

Operating system

Android

Joplin version

3.0.8

Sync target

Dropbox

What issue do you have?

New phone, Android 14, will sync all notebooks except largest which is 8400 records .

I would prefer not to split that notebook as then I will interfere with the "Sort by by Updated date order". There was no similar problem with my previous phone also on Android 14.

There's no error in the log so I think you just need to let it sync to completion? Just make sure your device doesn't get switched off while synchonising, and please note that Dropbox is slow so it's better to just leave it sync over a long period of time, like overnight. Once that initial sync is done, it should be faster afterwards.

You might also want to disable downloading resources by default in the settings.

Amazingly quick response.

  1. Phone has been downloading for two days non-stop already. At one point it got to 6000 fetched items, and then started self cancelling and I watched that count go all the way back down again. It seems to cycle through this behaviour.

  2. You say "disable downloading resources by default in the settings"
    Which Settings is that in?

Thanks again

It's in Synchronization => advanced options.

Not sure what you mean with the count going back down, but the best is to let the app do whatever it's doing until it says complete, at which point your app should be properly in sync with Dropbox
