Liquid Glass Design

Would be awesome if the app could have a Liquid Glass design for iOS 26. The current design is ok but it leaves a lot to be desired

Absolutely! I'm a late adopter, and I upgraded to iOS 26.1 (now 26.2) only recently. Apart from 'effects', Joplin and a couple of other apps don't have access to the new keyboard design. Instead they default to the old standard design which is kind of annoying when changing apps.

Even worse with iPadOS 26.2: When entering edit mode, there's white space instead of the keyboard, so the upgrade of the OS has made Joplin virtually unusable. I hope this is going be fixed soon, because Joplin is truly platform-agnostic while proprietory Apps like Apple Notes or OneNote are the opposite.

I think it’s platform agnostic since it’s an app based on the Electron frameworks. I’ve complained elsewhere about the lack of any nod towards Mac specific UI guidelines especially the dialogue boxes which are, in Mac terms the wrong way round. For Macs the desired result is selected on the right, with Win/Linux it’s on the left.

Since I’m not a programmer I don’t know how diffiult it would be to create a set of Mac specific UI elements, but IMHO it would be a step up for Mac users. I don’t think it would detract from the cross-platform nature of the app since it’s only the UI elements that would be platform specific.

FWIW I’ve avoided MacOS26 as I find the Liquid Glass stuff a real pain. All transparency does is allow bleed through from underlying elements and if you’re trying to write a long document it is seriously distracting.
