Link break in wysiwyg editor

Operating system

macOS

Joplin version

3.1.24

What issue do you have?

I searched and found a few topics on line breaks but I'm not sure I understand them.

Anyway, apologies if this has been explained. I have two (probably) related issues with the wysiwyg editor.

First, when I hit the enter key at the end of a line, it creates an empty line space between the lines of texts (in the wysiwyg editor, it's not a line that you can enter into, but rather a space. But in the markdown editor, you can see there is an extra line), How do I not create an empty line so there is no space between lines after I hit enter?

Second, after I hit the enter key at the end of a line and paste a word, the word doesn't get pasted in the next line (as I would expect)t. It gets pasted at the end of the line next to the previous word. (Note: it looks this a Mac phenomenon.)

These are very different from a normal text editor or word processor. Is there a way to modify the behavior?

Sorry for so many questions as I'm now trying to seriously use Joplin as one of my main note apps. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

The only way I know of to have tighter line spacing is to use shift enter rather than just the enter key. It is not convenient but it is the only way I know of to make it work the way that you are wanting it to.

The other option is when you are typing text for a while to do it in the markdown editor rather than wysiwig editor.

Thank you very much for the tip. I think it would be better to consider changing the default behavior to single spacing just like with the markdown editor or almost all other editors. It's much more intuitive to hit the enter one extra time if one wants double spacing.

Agreed, only I don't see any evidence of it happening anytime soon. I would like that feature as well.

I agree too, though I recall reading that there are reasons it cannot work this way. I've tried to edit CSS to make the extra line go away but never figured out how to make this work.

Did you solve this? I do not see this behavior on Joplin 3.1.24 on either Mac or Windows.

Thanks. On the Mac, I don't know why but the problem actually went away after I switched to a different keyboard.
