Hello, I am new to this tool, and I’m asking for help with these questions. I hope someone could help me answer any of the questions. I’d really appreciate it.
search block/archive/close notebooks:
I have a large notebook of archived information that does not need to be searched on a regular basis and does NOT need to be synced to the mobile ap on my phone wasting space. How to search as needed?
How to rename notebooks?
How to simply align columns in text without a table (tab stops, previous line alignment)
Find blank notes (no contents)
Find duplicate notes:
If I use a tool to find blank notes and I delete them from the folder where they are, will that cause Joplin to go crazy, or will it simply take them off the list?
change font size - no option on format border, remove all formatting
Web Clipper error, Opera (Chrome compatible): The Joplin extension is not available on this tab due to: The extensions gallery cannot be scripted.
How to move between the search bar/note list and the note (only those 3) with the tab key/keyboard? It keeps stopping at other places I don't need, like the close X and the toolbars.
How to navigate the notebooks list with the arrow keys?
How to paste MP3 files into notes?
How to back up the OneDrive folder for Joplin? Getting a "cloud operation was unsuccessful" on an MD file - how to fix?
Why does the app not remember the last screen position when restarting?
How to convert all enter keys to act like shift-enter?
How can I make a key that takes me back to my home folder? Now I have to hit F10 and use the mouse to choose the default folder.
The other issue is that I created a small new note in the main folder of Joplin, and it still has not synced.
Please help me regarding this issue with the image below.
That’s a lot of questions! I’ll just answer a couple:
(Question 5) Don’t change the files on the sync target directly (ie. on OneDrive). Yes it can make Joplin go crazy. There is no option in Joplin to remove duplicate notes unfortunately
1 use two profiles, one for main data and one for archived data
2 right click, edit
8 settings, keyboard shortcuts, check items starting with "focus" and "search"
9 arrows up/down work for me, both on notebook list and note list
10 click the "attach file" icon in the toolbar, or use menu. edit, attach file
11 to backup your data, export a JEX file from your desktop app, it is done every day by default, go check it actually works
14 you could use note tabs plugin, and permanently pin a special note in your special folder. with only one click, you are back to that note and folder
note that I am using MacOS not Windows so you might experience slight differences
I would like to ask a question about your answers:
No. 8. What exactly do you mean by check items starting with 'focus' and 'search’? Do I need to mark check on them?
No. 10. Is it okay to drag the Mp3 file into the note? Is it necessary to click the “attach file” option in the tool bar?
No. 11. What is a JEX file and what format is it in? Is it a Joplin proprietary document, all the other documents to combine, or a backup of everything?
Thank you so much for your time in answering these additional questions.
JEX is tar archive containing your notes, tags, resources etc. You can easily extract it and inspect it’s content via Winrar or any other tool supporting tar format.
I’m not getting complete synchronisation its missing notes should be there like in my old main directory I got notes that I created newly that are not being synchronized to mobile so I am not sure if they are saving properly. I need some way to verify that and also one of the main thing I’m having troubles with is with this screenshots, there’s a lot of downloads that can’t be downloaded, what is wrong with this? I got this from the app on GetHub that downloaded all the data from onenote to MD markup files and it should’ve imported everything including the images but it did not.
8 I mean, have a look at all the keyboard shortcuts whose name start with Focus or Search. For example "Focus Note List". You can setup these shortcuts yourself to keys that work for you.
10 Yes you can drag the mp3 file into the note. If it does not work, use the other ways I mentioned.
11 JEX files stand for Joplin EXport files, they store one or several Joplin Notes. They are typically used to backup all your notes in a single file. The format is open.
I got this from the app on GetHub that downloaded all the data from onenote to MD markup files and it should’ve imported everything including the images but it did not.
I suggest you report this as an issue on that app's github.
There is not any paid support option unless you’re paying for Joplin Cloud, as far I’m aware. Even if you did pay for Joplin Cloud though, I think the number of guaranteed support you get might be for a limited number of requests.
But you get free (but not guaranteed) support from the community, here on the forum.
