What issue do you have?

I have installed Joplin on Fedora, Ubuntu, Windows 10 without issue. However on my new computer when I click on the Sync link to go to Dropbox I get the usual sign in box and complete this. It then goes to the online version and does not provide me with the necessary code to paste into Joplin.

It then flashes a message across the top of the Dropbox windows saying “I denied access to Joplin”

How many simultaneous connections do you have to your Dropbox account?

They will bump you out if you go beyond the limit of a free account.

I use a cloud mounting utility app called rclone to mount my Dropbox account and do it that way. This way it doesn't count against your number of allowed connections to Dropbox.

Hi Leo

No luck there. I brought the connections down to five and still get the same error messages.

is there any liklihood the browser I am using, Brave, may be causing these problems?

I looked at rclone as you suggest, but it does not look all that easy for a non IT person to use/setup etc.

Regards
Ken.

agreed. Rclone is intimidating for beginners. , there is a free graphical user interface that installs rclone for you and makes it a lot easier. Its a GUI. Just create a new remote of type Dropbox and follow the prompts. Then you can mount it.

It's called https://rcloneview.com/

For regular rclone, you download the Rclone zip file for Windows.

  1. Extract rclone.exe.
  2. Run rclone config
  3. choose dropbox after choosing new remote
  4. Follow the prompts.
  5. Quit when done
  6. rclone mount dropbox: d: --vfs-cache-mode full

I can assist you with any problems but try Rclone view first.

Hi Leo

No go again.

Failure!

HI Leo

I went in and made Microslop Edge the default browser and Joplin immediately connected to Dropbox and is currently syncing away merrily.

So another one for the issue log. Brave Browser doesn't play well with joplin and dropbox.

regards

Ken.

Yah Brave is a secure browser so I can understand why you might have had an issue. Glad you got it fixed.
