Joplin always opens full screen when PC boots up

Dear Community,

I've got a weird behavior of my Joplin 1.8.5 (prod, win32) instance on my Win10 Family laptop:

  • Each time I boot up my laptop or wake it up, Joplin opens in full screen mode, but with blank content.
  • No note or book displays, I only get the "outer box", namely the Windows app outer controls (window border, shrink, expand and close buttons).
  • I struggle to close this empty window and found out that I need to shrink it first, then bring it back to screen before the close button has any action.

Then it has a normal behavior and doesn't bring any trouble until the next laptop sleep or shutdown...

Modules:

  • Folding in Code Mirror Editor v1.2.5
  • Markdown table calculations v1.0.3
  • Outline v1.2.0
  • PlantUML v0.0.1

I just can't link this to any module or program update... Thanks in advance for any help!

I saw this too in 1.7.11 on windows 10, without plugins, but not on linux. Interestingly it doesn't seem to show when launching in dev mode. Maybe it has something to do with starting the background process?

I found the issue about this on Github: Desktop: Window Content Blank Upon First Load · Issue #4511 · laurent22/joplin · GitHub

It's a bug in Electron, the framework upon which Joplin desktop is built. It seems to have been fixed already there: Frozen window appears when app is closed to tray and resolution is changed · Issue #26899 · electron/electron · GitHub, and the fix will be included in the next release. So this bug will get fixed when Joplin is updated to use the next version of electron.

Great! Thanks a lot for this information, I'll update immediately when the next release will be available!
