sorry - can't find it - that's part of the problem
What issue do you have?
I'm migrating from Linux Mint to Arch Linux, and I've got Joplin all installed and imported my data and set up backup/sync location. But what I cannot find is how to display the menu bar.
If you have hidden the menu bar you can press CTRL + Shift + M to bring it back. Or you can press the ALT key to temporarily show the menu bar and select View > Toggle menu bar.
I will write these down for future reference, but neither one caused Joplin to respond in any way. I have not hidden the menu bar, I've only just got the app installed and imported my notes.
How have you installed the Linux client? AppImage, AUR, Snap or Flatpak? I ask as the only "official" version is the AppImage. The others are maintained by third-parties. If it's not the AppImage you are using it may be better asking the maintainer of the version you have installed.
Apologies, but just for the sake of clarity, when you say "menu bar" can I confirm that you are referring to the menu bar at the top of the app (as shown below)?
The Joplin Team only build the AppImage. Others have taken to making builds from the Joplin source for other installation methods including Flatpaks (See this page).
If no one can help here and it could be an problem specific to a particular unofficial build it may be worth considering raising an issue with the maintainer.
Have you tried the AppImage to see if the menu bar shows?
The appimages that show up in my Software Store are from the AUR repository, which the builders of my laptop have advised caution in downloading. I'm not familiar enough to be able to determine potential safety for these downloads, as my old Mint laptop software store was quite different and no guidance in selecting safe downloads was provided.
How do I know the two 3.0.13-1 downloads in the screenshot are safe and how od I choose between them?
If they are in the AUR repository I guess that they have been packaged by third-parties as well. What you see in the store could possibly be related to these:
I meant to use the Joplin install script as described here on the Joplin site to download and install the Joplin AppImage directly from the Joplin GitHub repo.
I am not a user of Arch so you may want to wait to see if another Arch user has any better suggestions...
OK, I'm feeling pretty stupid right now, but I've solved the problem. Remember, I've only just migrated to Arch from Mint - and it's VERY different! The menu bar has been there all along - but it's not in the Joplin window! It's in the top bar with the systray and the date. I found it when I was desperately trying to print a note. Go figure...
