Encryption keys

Operating system

Linux

Joplin version

3.5.13

Sync target

Dropbox

What issue do you have?

I installed Joplin on my main computer, then enabled encrypted sync with dropbox. I then added two more devices (android and Linux) with the same master password. Now, when I look under Encryption keys, I see 3 of them, one of which is marked active.

I've read the docs, and still do not see any explanation of these multiple encryption keys. Should I disable the inactive ones, or are they still needed?

Just disable the inactive keys. Rather than enabling encryption before syncing on each device, if you just set up the sync, you will instead be prompted for the master password. That way you wont get a new key created every time to setup a new device

Thanks, I was wondering if the order of operations caused it.
