Android Sync from Dropbox very slow - don't know whats wrong

Hi everybody,

Joplin is a fantastic product - I love it. Thanks a lot for enabling such features for those I searched a long time for.

There is one issue I don’t know what I am doing wrong or maybe there is a bug.

The situation is as follows:

I used the great Web Clipper (1.0.19) functionality in the Brave browser (Version 0.70.101 Chromium: 77.0.3865.90) and I am really excited about the web clipper - it works perfect. I clipped around 500 articles - maybe in total 200 MB. I use Dropbox to sync the notes.

I use Joplin in Version 1.0.174 in Linux Manjaro - everything works great.

However, on Android I use Joplin 1.0.310 with database v25. On yesterday I tried to sync the mobile device with Dropbox in order to get all the relevant articles on my mobile phone.

The issue is, that the synchronisation of the mobile device took about more than 15 hours and on today it is still syncing without having synced all articles.

Under the synchronisation button Joplin in android counts the number of local objects (now 907), loaded objects (now 2941/4000), ressources read: x/8248 (x counts on from 0 to max. 5). On yesterday I recognized that the loaded objects counts in steps of 2000 items - that means next it will count starting from 4000 till 6000. I saw on yesterday that it counted from 8000 till 10000.

The question is: Where is the error? Is it me who uses Joplin in a wrong way or is it a bug?

In synchronisation status I see that the resource in total sums up to 18387 with 25 folders in total and 445 notes - there are no conflicts and nothing to delete.

My impression is - whyever - somehow it stops somewhere to sync and then starts to sync from the beginning on. And why it stops somewhere is not clear for me. If it is not a bug I think a feature that forces Joplin to continue from the last point it stopped to the end would be great. Now it synced 351 of 445 notes but all the waiting for the completion of the syncing could be avoided.

What are the setting I use?
Joplin Desktop

  • max. amount of connections at the same time: 5
  • additional features (like activate ==mark== syntax): Everything switched off
  • encryption switched off
  • Secure (don’t delete local files if synchronisation destination is empty): on

Joplin Android

  • max. amount of connections at the same time: 20
  • additional features (like activate ==mark== syntax): Everything switched off
  • encryption switched off
  • Secure (don’t delete local files if synchronisation destination is empty): off
On yesterday I tried to sync with D

Do you have any idea why that takes so much time and maybe never ends to synch the notes? I will let it run until tomorrow morning and maybe install it again in adroid.

Many thanks.

Kind regards,

D.

Sorry @ all - I saw, that it is me, not Joplin that works bad - in FAQ it is strongly recommended to first install Dropbox on the device and then to try Filesync during the initial synchronisation…
