What issue do you have?

So this is more about the differences between the Desktop app and the Android app. When I edit a note in the desktop app type a line and then enter to go to a new line, there is a big space , whereas when I do this in the android app it generates a new line snugly under the last with.
If I sync and go to the same note in the android app, it adopts the same multi line behavior as the desktop app.

I appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks.

You’re definately using the markdown editor on desktop, not the rich text editor?

Could you reproduce the issue with a test note and upload a screenshot please?

Yes I’m using the markdown editor on the desktop app. Will try and upload a screenshot from the desktop app.

The screenshot you uploaded indicates you’re using the rich text editor. To switch to the markdown editor, click the M with the down arrow in the top right, so that the button turns white

Hello mrjo118
Thank you for replying. Sorry I’m late in responding. I searched the web and found another article :slight_smile:

Shift and enter works a treat.

I found a post on reddit which advised to update the markdown stylesheet

body {
line-height: 1em;
}

But that didn’t work.

Yes, if you want to continue using the rich text editor on desktop you can do that to work around the difference in behaviour. Otherwise, use the markdown editor instead

Hi,

Give this mod a try. Hopefully it will work for you. You can reduce the amount of space that you see between lines.

Or try this:

To reduce paragraph spacing in Joplin via userstyle.css, you can target the rendered Markdown content using CSS. Here's a simple snippet that tightens the vertical spacing between paragraphs:

`css

/ Reduce spacing between paragraphs in Joplin note viewer /

div.markdown-preview-view p {

margin-top: 4px;

margin-bottom: 4px;

}

`

:wrench: Explanation:

- div.markdown-preview-view p targets paragraph elements in the note preview pane.

- margin-top and margin-bottom control the vertical spacing. You can adjust the 4px value to suit your preference—try 2px for ultra-tight spacing or 6px for a modest reduction.

Many thanks, I’ll try this.
