Why can't Joplin embed stuff like YouTube but other markdown note-taking apps can?

AFAIK, you can't embed stuff in Joplin. So, I was curious and tried it on other markdown editors. I settled with trying it on Notable.

Why can't Joplin render the embedded video while Notable can, even though they are both markdown editors?

iframes were disabled for security reasons, which is a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

There is a feature request to implement a renderer plugin to allow embedding of youtube videos (without the iframe).
