What is the story behind Joplin?

I google it and searched in forum but didn’t found anything regarding “Story behind Joplin”

Personally I would love to know the story behind Joplin, how did @laurent came up with this Idea and what drive him to create his own note making app and keeping it open source so everyone can contribute and other stuff like what was his age when he started Joplin, If he is in college or doing job at that time…
I think others would to love to hear the story too and this will be a little motivation for all of us.
