Update Notifications on Windows Desktop

When there's a new update available Joplin will initiate an annoying pop up window that displays the full change log and which steals focus, accompanied with a notification sound and blinking of said pop up.

Why was this the chosen UX? I honestly can't recall a more obnoxious update notification in 30 years of PC use and nearly 2 decades of software development.

Possible workaround: At present, a workaround might be enabling automatic updates in settings > application > advanced > enable auto-updates:

When "enable auto-updates" is enabled, the update notification ("restart to install updates") is shown at the bottom right corner of the screen (rather than as a dialog overlay):
