I updated the Windows version, but Android won't decrypt new or modified notes - and I can't upgrade through the Play store because I have the F-Droid version, which has not been updated. Is there a new one coming? Does anyone know when? (I don't want to uninstall/re-install & re-sync thousands of notes, which takes forever.) Thanks
By IT'S BLANK, do you mean it's not downloading new notes? Are you sure it's related to the issue here? In any case we'd need to see log to tell
Just download the APK: Release android-v2.11.31 · laurent22/joplin-android · GitHub
You need to get in touch with F-Droid, as we don't maintain this version or provide support for it
Just chipping in here to confirm that the 2.11.11 AppImage for Linux as mentioned above resolved my issues on two Ubuntu 22.04 LTS machines after they couldn't decrypt notes edited on my android phone after the 26th June update (2.11.31). I was running the official snap store version Joplin 2.10.19 (prod, linux) Revision: 1100ab0d6 on Ubuntu which had no update candidates as of today 28 June.
The symptoms were:
- two ubuntu machines synced and decrypted fine between themselves
- android phone could decrypt old notes (?) and any edits made on the ubuntu machines
- any edits on the phone would sync but not decrypt on either ubuntu machine.
Solution:
0. remove the snap installation (sudo snap remove joplin-desktop)
- download AppImage 2.11.11, make executable
- Tools/Options/Synchronisation enter (Joplin cloud) sync details
- Tools/Options/Encryption Manage master password
- Tools/Options/Synchronisation - Advanced Settings - Delete local data and reload from sync target
- Make a cup of tea while it's syncing
Wait, I'm confused, so who uploads the F-Droid versions of the app? It's not you? What is the difference between the F-Droid version, the link you provided, and the Play store versions? Would be helpful to understand this if I'm going to spend 6 hours re-syncing notes.
I don't know about the F-Droid version. APK and Google Play versions are currently the same
I have a workaround now - but still cannot perform the tasks below.
I have two Synology NAS both configured with WebDav.
Prior to the update. I could do the following:
-
create a new profile.
-
on my first NAS setup sync
-
the directory on the NAS has some files after sync
-
add some pictures, text
-
sync to the NAS.
-
I see the files.
I decided to move all my profiles from NAS one to NAS two. I have several options.
Option 1: this step is broken.
- I could copy the directories over to NAS one.
- change the sync path to NAS one and everything works.
- This is the part that doesn't work after updating.
- Nothing displays and Sync doesn't do anything.
I was able to simply change the sync path to archives (not a jex file).
Option 2:
-
On NAS one, create an empty directory with the same name as the directory on NAS two.
-
In Sync change the sync path to NAS one
-
Press sync and all the records are moved to the new location
-
I use Option 1 whenever I forget to remove directories on NAS two and time has passed I forget what is in it. I want to see what they are. So I perform Option 1.
Option 3: -
Export the entire profile into a jex file.
-
Delete the profile from Joplin
-
Create a WebDav directory for a new profile on NAS one
-
With a blank profile, I'd find the jex file and import them.
I notice in Synchronisation there is an option to Re-upload local data to sync targets. I will try that.
I could not locate the log files in the Joplin app. I'm running Mac OS.
