The current Android app tag suggestions are more limited, does anyone know if this is a bug or feature?
It seems like the most recent Android app version has changed the interface and process for adding a tag (through the tag menu, via the three vertical dots in the upper right while in a note). I believe that it used to be that typing in any letter sequence in an existing tag would suggest all tags with this sequence, as it currently does in the Desktop version, but it only suggests tags that are a text match with initial characters entered.
For example, let's say there are three tags: some-things, all-things, things.
On the older versions of the app, and currently in the Desktop version, typing "thing" suggests all three tags, but on the mobile, the only tag suggested is "things".
Thank you! I wasn’t sure if it was an intentional feature, I could see the argument in favor of this: expanded options have the potential for adding “clutter” if you have a lot tags, as I do. But I prefer the options. Thank you so much for replying to my question and for the status.
I’ve just updated to the new version and am disappointed to notice that the scrollable/viewable tags area in the new tags dialog is much smaller.
For those of us that are used to quickly scanning and scrolling through our tags this is a real usability downgrade; some of us don’t use the search in this dialog but simply want to quickly scroll through and select tags. Now less tags are viewable on screen at once it feels like a waste of screen space and is a frustrating experience compared with previous versions.
I’m a bit confused by the replies above. Are there plans to restore the add tag layout to where it was before? Any clarifications here would be very much appreciated. Or if there’s a more appropriate place to post this I’d be grateful to know where that is.
