Synch requires 3.7.0+ but 3.6.15 is the latest

What issue do you have?

As of June 22, I'm getting an error "In order to synchronise, please upgrade your application to version 3.7.0+". But when I visit Downloading Joplin... | Joplin the latest available for download is 3.6.15 And when I look at Releases · laurent22/joplin · GitHub It looks like we only made it to 3.6.15 two days ago (June 20)

Which platform do you get the error on? Another desktop client, or on mobile? You seem to have downloaded a 3.7 pre-release, so you'll need to install 3.7 on all your devices. The Joplin 3.7.2 desktop release was revoked, so you could try manually downloading the older 3.7.1 desktop release if you issue is on desktop

I took down v3.7 because of this issue, so if you've upgraded one device but not others, you're indeed a bit stuck for now.

I'm going to release a new 3.7 right now so you can upgrade.

Ah I keep up with the very latest on one laptop, but the GA version on my other laptop. So it seems like a temporary edge case

Hi, sorry to ask as well

I read your post about the upcoming 3.7.0+ release, but I can’t find the Android APK anywhere. I have only found 3.6.15 and 3.6.20.

Could you share a link, where I can download the 3.7.0+ Android version? Thanks!

Best regards,
Simon

You can find the Android 3.7.x pre-releases here

Hi @johano

Thanks for your kind help.
Installations worked and sync works as well.

Best regards,
Simon

Hi @johano
I'm sorry to ask again.

I have also a linux installation (EndeavourOS) where I need to update to 3.7.0+.
I originally installed according to Installation | Joplin with the installation script `wget -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/laurent22/joplin/dev/Joplin_install_and_update.sh | bash`.

Do I need to uninstall it and maybe use the appimage version maybe from here? Releases · laurent22/joplin · GitHub

Or maybe the new version will be shortly out and just wait?

You can add a flag to the install script command to get the latest pre-release:

wget -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/laurent22/joplin/dev/Joplin_install_and_update.sh | bash -s -- --prerelease

Hey, thank you much for your kind help.

I am having the same issue. It is frustrating paying money for software which I am not able to use. Please get this fixed or at least find a workaround ASAP.

I was not having any problems with 3.7
I wish you did not take that version down. You taking it down has effectively bricked my software making it unusable.

Is it possible to get 3.7? At least then I should still be able to use it.

If you install a pre-release, you are accepting a risk of a less stable software version. If you don't want that, you should only install the stable releases. Regarding bricked software, a new version was released not long after taking down that particular version

I deal with less stable software all the time. Every app on my phone that has a beta is a beta. Every other beta app I have had issues with I am also able to at least uninstall then reinstall the software and get it to work again. I do this with nightly releases of browsers and other software all time time.
This software is FUBAR in a spectacular kind of way where I can not do that. Even after clearing the cache, restarting my phone and reinstalling the regular version, it is still bricked. I have tried the google play version, F-Droid version, and the public release APK file. All of them fail.

Update: After downloading the 3.7.2 APK it seems to be syncing again. I appreciate the link. I looked on the GitHub page, but was not able to find the APK file. Looks like it was in another section.

Ironically, I am only having this issue because of 'another' issue I ran into with Joplin where the backspace button was acting like the enter key and moving the curser down a line. Me reinstalling the app in attempt to fix that issue only triggered a new one. I am hoping that bug will get fixed too.

Anyways, thank you for the link. Seems to do the trick. For reference, I am a new customer that has just started using this product over the last few months.

I've created this issue about it. If you've been affected by this problem feel free to let me know if there's something more you think the app should do to make it clearer what the problem is and how to solve it:

Having the same issue. F-droid updated the android version to 3.7.2 (it is marked as prod there). After synchronizing the android client, my desktop clients cannot be synchronized any more. My mean of installation (flatpack) does not have a non-stable branch, have to temporary move to appimage for the desktop. Would be nice to know when 3.7 will move to be stable, so I would be able to have my devices properly in sync.

v3.7 is pretty stable already but indeed those other channels will (rightly) not update until it's officially flagged as stable. And this is planned for early September
