What issue do you have?

I'd like to sync my Joplin notes between my home and job computers, but the application syncs them separately. What can I do to have my home and job notes synced?

You are supposed to use the same master key on whatever devices you would like to sync from or to.

I sync between my home and job pc as well as my android mobile phone. They all work very well.

How do I set the same master key? Is it the master password?

Hi,

On your home Computer you have a profile And it is configured to synchronize your data to your personal OneDrive account.

How are you getting to your personal OneDrive account From Your computer at work? You can set up a second profile But it is still going to want to sink To the same Location that Joplin at your work computer is synchronizing to .

What I do at work Is The Joplin that's installed on my computer For work purposes And then I use Remote Control software to put a copy of my cell phone up on my computer screen and edit it that way and I essentially I have two copies of Joplin running. I like to keep them separate that way because I don't work for a company that likes people putting personal files on their work computer.

I did that for a number of years. I then stopped. My work got very serious about security and blocked off my personal cloud drive account (not just mine, everyone's). I had my work and Personal all on one instance of Joplin in separate notebooks.

So, first, be sure this is what you actually WANT, CAN and NEED to do. Not that it's just convenient.

I also came to realize that if something were to happen to me, I did not want my personal notes to go to anyone at my work. I also wanted to make sure I could just hand over my notes to someone at work, should I for some reason separate from it. So I setup 2 instances of Joplin. I use each on separate PCs and Android cell phones, so never the twain shall meet. I use the portable Joplin, so that I can just hand over the complete folder for it along with the password and someone else can have my work notes just that easy.

I have one set of seldom changed notes in a separate notebook that I keep in common with them both. I keep the 'master' set on my personal devices, then export new notes and import them into my work Joplin instance. It's a bit of a chore, but takes just a few minutes every couple of months.

Correct,

Anyone can be asked to leave their job and Company at any time and not necessarily give you an opportunity to delete your personal information from your work computer.

Another option might be to use Remote Control software to your home computer. I would try Rustdesk. It's open source and can navigate routers and gateways. And, if it doesn't know about it they might not be blocking the ports that it uses. Only do so at your own risk because in some companies doing your own work on a work computer can be a terminal offense.

I used to work in IT for a large company and when investigating a virus one time I found someone's personal tax returns in TurboTax on their work computer that was compromised by the virus. Big No No.

A lot of companies especially Banks forbid employees from installing anything of their own on a work computer. RustDesk can be executed without installing it.
