Swipe Navigation for Notebook Entries

I propose the implementation of a swipe navigation feature that allows users to navigate entries within a notebook by swiping left or right. This functionality would enable users to move chronologically forward or backward through their notes with simple gestures, making it easier to review and manage their content.

Details:

  • Swipe Left: Navigate to the next entry in the notebook (chronologically forward).
  • Swipe Right: Navigate to the previous entry in the notebook (chronologically backward).

Benefits:

  1. Improved User Experience: Swipe navigation is intuitive and aligns with common touch-based interactions on iOS devices, providing a seamless and natural way to browse notes.
  2. Increased Efficiency: Users can quickly review and locate specific notes without returning to the main notebook view, enhancing productivity.
  3. Consistency: This feature would align with other popular note-taking apps that already support swipe navigation, making Joplin more competitive and user-friendly.

Implementation Considerations:

  • Ensure that the swipe gestures do not conflict with other existing gestures within the app.
  • Provide visual indicators or animations to signify the transition between notes.
  • Offer an option in the settings to enable or disable swipe navigation, catering to users who may prefer traditional navigation methods.

I believe this feature would be a valuable addition to the Joplin iOS app, enhancing its functionality and making it more user-centric.
