When opening Joplin v1.4.15 maximized, it opens as a white screen with the menu bar, and stays white for 8 to 15 seconds at which point it loads the note and folder area. If I open it half screen or smaller, it takes only a couple seconds to load the GUI completely. This issue did not happen in any other previous 1.4.X builds, including the most recent 1.4.12 build.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken

  • Computer Restart
  • Joplin Uninstall, Computer Restart, Joplin Install

For the info of the maintainers I can duplicate this. Using 1.4.15 on a Win10 20H2 desktop computer with a display set at 1920x1200 using on-board Intel HD Graphics 630. System has an i7-7700 and 16GB RAM.

I quit Joplin whilst the window was maximised and then restarted the app. For me I waited for four minutes but Joplin never loaded the notes and the maximised Joplin window remained empty. Joplin had not frozen and there was no "Not Responding" message. Task manager showed Joplin was using 0% CPU. I could still resize the window and quit Joplin. After restarting Joplin (not maximised) the notes appeared almost instantly.

EDIT: I dragged out the window to fill the screen and tried again. The notes appeared instantly so, at least for me, this odd behaviour appears to only occur when Joplin is quit when maximised.

On my PC (Windows 8.1) is takes about 5 minutes for the window to show up. Changing window size does not seem to make any difference.

No white screen though. It just takes very long before the window appears and once it has opened it takes maybe 5 seconds before notes render.

Please give a try to the latest version as I've re-enabled ASAR packing on it:
