I'm looking for a plug-in or integrated functionality to display all notes that have been created in the last 7 days. Does something like that exist?
Hi @pmidden
Welcome to the forum,
Yes, it's possible, although not as a 100% a plugin for that, or dedicated screen or a one-click button. As far as I know, Joplin doesn’t have a built-in “recent notes” view, but you can get the same result with search filters.
Just type this in the search box:
created:day-7
That lists all notes created in the last 7 days. If you want recently modified notes instead, use updated:day-7. More details on search filters here: Searching | Joplin
If you'd rather have something closer to a permanent view, you can build a note that acts as a dashboard using the Note overview plugin. Add this block to a note and the plugin will fill it with a table of matching notes and keep it updated:
<!-- note-overview-plugin
search: created:day-7
-->
<!--endoverview-->
Plugin page: Joplin Plugins - Note overview
Another option is to change how the note list is displayed (View > Note list style > Detailed). Right-click on the header and you can add a "Created" column (and remove those already present if you wish).
The selected columns can be dragged into the order you prefer.
Click on the created column header to sort it ascending or descending depending on how many times you click on it.
The screenshot is not a good example as the default notes were all created at the same time! ![]()
Yet another option is to use the Embed Search plugin
Then create a note entitled, for example:
Created in the last week
Add this content in the Markdown Editor:
```search
created:day-7
```
This note will now always show a list of clickable links to notes created in the last 7 days.
I have found this so useful for various repeated searches that I've created a "
Search" notebook (shows near the top of the notebook list when sorted alphabetically on account of the starting character).
Useful to keep a variety of search notes in, e.g.:
Created in the last week
Updated in the last week

a particular oft used tag or whatever...
Thank you @johano and @dpoulton , this was very helpful not only because it solved my specific problem, but also because it taught me that the search field isn't just free text, but can do queries as well. I had no idea!
I'm settling for the Embed Search plugin since it's pretty ergonomic and I might just extend it to other use-cases.
