I am leaving Dropbox for pCloud. I understand that syncing Joplin with pCloud maybe problematic. I also understand how to set the database to allow syncing to pCloud. However Laurent has said that this causes "problems once you get to a certain number of notes".
I have 4,500 notes approx. If "a certain number" is about 5,000 then I need to find another approach. On the other hand, if I am safe-ish until I hit around 20,000 notes, then I should be alright for the next few years.
Can I have a ballpark figure for "a certain number" so I can make a more informed decision about the level of risk involved?
Apologies. I should have mentioned that I had looked there.
However there must be some known/guessable threshold at which I might start running into issues, and Laurent mentioned that it becomes unreliable at "a certain number", hence my question.
My use case is that I have just over 4,500 notes and I add a note every week or ten days on average, and also edit/modify some existing notes. So at that rate it will take me over 8 years to cross the 5,000 notes mark. If the threshold is, say, approximately 8,000 - 10,000 notes then I should be safe. If it is 2,000 - 2,500 notes then I am doomed, and need to find another solution.
I don't need an exact number, just a ballpark figure, and if that turns out to be wrong then at least I will have learned something that I can post back here!
Thank you @bwat47. I had not spotted this particular comment.
If there is a 120,000 file limit then I might experiment. As I mentioned I have about 4,500 notes. I have just checked and that seems to translate into 53,771 files.
So I am well inside the alleged limit. I will attempt to sync via pCloud and we will see what happens!
pCloud it is not supported and not only because of a file limit. There were also a lot of other problems even with users who only had 2000 notes. If I remember correctly, there were rate limits and so on.
Just want to say you were warned that pCloud is not supported. After that, please do not come and ask for help if something is not working
I understand, but thank you for making it explicit.
I have read through all the threads that I can find about pCloud and I am completely clear that if I go ahead and try using it as a sync target I will choosing, against advice, to navigate choppy waters, and the (possible/probable) resulting mess will be nobody's fault but mine.
So I can promise that, whatever happens, I will not be asking the forum for any help on this topic, now that my original question has been answered.
