Patreon support

Just for my information, Patreon support does not bring us Joplin cloud or anything correct ?

It's probably rather hard to keep track of thousands of customers through various donation portals (github, direct banking, patreon, liberapay), managing upgrades/downgrades in plans, free trials and refunds. Inevitably, errors happen especially with such diverse donation network. And you won't believe how upset people can be over 2EUR.

If there's an error, for such relatively inexpensive service, cost of replying to a couple of emails turns the economy from slight profit into deep loss.

Every platform has different terms for fees -- making accurate pricing for plans a whole new challenge.

Certain donation methods (such as direct banking) can't offer distinct tiers&plans even though it might be only convenient donation way for some people. Sending a wrong amount through non-tiered donation methods opens yet another can of worms in terms of social expectations, general accounting and even business taxes.

Correct. The methods of donating to Joplin are just that. They are voluntary donations, one-off or regular, to support the development of the Joplin note-taking app. You do get "newsletters" sent through Patreon but it is normally information that is also provided on this forum.

For those that need to sync their notes between clients and do not want to use a third-party service or self-host, there is the separate, paid-for, Joplin Cloud service.

But since there are some automated tools in discourse and that I have seen Patreon badge earlier, I thought….
