What issue do you have?

In recent months (also before updating to v3.0.x), notes continuously have been disappearing; sometimes even while I'm editing them. Usually they end up in the "Conflicts" directory but now some of them are completely missing. This is really bad. I've lost some of my most important notes this way. Fortunately, I do run regular backups but it's annoying to do so and also, it requires me to note that they go missing in the first place.

Today, I had the situation that I could find the note on mobile but not on desktop. Then I edited it on mobile to try and force it to sync and now it's completely gone. I don't know what to do now. I've lost quite a bit of trust in using Joplin which has been my daily driver for many years. Is this something others have experienced before?

In recent versions of Joplin, when notes are permanently deleted, a record with the tag DeleteAction should be added to the log, along with a reason for the deletion. Knowing the reason Joplin logged for these deletions (or if there was no log for a deletion) could be helpful in determining why this is happening.

Getting this information: On desktop, 1) open "Help" > "Open profile directory", then 2) open "log.txt", and finally 3) search for lines containing DeleteAction.

For example, a line might look like this:

17:02:36: DeleteAction: permanentlyDeleteNote command: titles: ["New"]; Item IDs: ["8cc99c240a4243e29bf18eb473efc7c8"]

Above, the reason for this deletion is listed as permanentlyDeleteNote command.

Note that if the reason for the deletion is listed as sync: deleteLocal, the surrounding lines in the log might give additional details about why the note was deleted.

@franzperdido, the log would indeed be useful to understand what is happening. Also did you do anything unusual with your notes in recent weeks, for example deleting all your notes and restoring them from backup, changing sync target settings, etc.?

Hey guys, thanks for your quick reply!

Attached you find the log file. Let me know if you need additional information!

It's already been a couple of months, but I did have to reinstall the Joplin Server due to a hardware migration.

That being said, I've always had issues with some elements not being decrypted properly, as well as issues with sharing notes but these issues might be unrelated.
