I was updating a few notes on my desktop app on the mac, without any invocation, a refresh occurred and through some of my notes into the Conflict bin, and the rest of my notes and folder structure are totally gone (not in trash), just disappeared.
As you are using the desktop client, you should have the Backup Plugin enabled by default, unless you have disabled it or changed the frequency of backup. Assuming you have an up to date backup available, you will be able to restore the backup to a new profile, and lose only changes made since the last backup (default is daily), plus all your note history.
Additionally, just in case your most recent backup is not as up to date as you would like, do you have another device with a Joplin client which you have not synced to cause these deletions, but is reasonably up to date? If so, DISCONNECT internet from the device, open Joplin and do a jex export of all your notes (if you have several devices, do this on all your other devices, if they have any unsynced changes). Then close down Joplin completely before reconnecting to the internet.
Also, if you wouldn't mind, before you attempt to restore your notes, could you get a bit of additional information, to assist the Joplin team / community to finding the root cause for this issue? Recently, there are a few reports of what you describe happening, with OneDrive sync specifically:
-On the device which had the deletions, could you go to Help > Export deletion log, and post it here please? Also posting the full log.txt in the joplin-desktop folder would be helpful too.
-Go onto your OneDrive account to the App folder. Are there multiple folders there containing either the names Joplin or Graph? Please post the full list of subfolders, if there are more than one
-Finally, I have a question. Are you using a personal or business OneDrive account?
I was able to import a backup that has all the data and files.
I do have a corporate OneDrive account, so I disconnect the backup from it and routed to a local folder instead.
I do only have one Joplin/Notebooks folder. Joplin has a single JoplinBackup (that was underneath the OneDrive location, with a default folder and README, the default folder has the all notebooks jex file and a profile folder with a plugins and settings.json).
Let me see if I can get that deletion log for you as well.
Are you actually using sync target as OneDrive, or are you using file system sync and OneDrive for Mac to keep the directory synced?
If the former, you should have an 'App' directory at the top level of your OneDrive account (if you can't see it, check the web ui for OneDrive). If you have that, then please post the list of folders inside it
