Notebook List Sort Order - Alphabetically (certainly not by ASCII code)

Apparently even the ability to control notebook list order is new and "alphabetically" is one of the options (although I can't find any options at all for this). People suggest numbering but no way am I going to number folders.

Most similar products will allow special characters to sort before or after alphabetic characters, Joplin doesn't, so I'm wondering what it's sorting scheme is as that doesn't seem to be mentioned.

All special characters I have tried sort first even "|" & "~" which would normally sort last (File:ASCII-Table-wide.svg - Wikimedia Commons) I don't want to have to prefix everything with "z." to get it to the end etc.

Basically I want to "manually" sort some at the start and end.

I do know the sorting scheme (just a normal user, not a developer) but I came across your post while looking for something else and wanted to share how I force some folders to the top or bottom.

@ at the start of a folder name will sort it before any folder that starts with an "A"
Ω at the start of a folder name will sort it after any folder that starts with an "Z"

e.g. Sort alphabetically will return
@zebra
lion
pangolins
Ωcamel

There ?

This is what I do myself...

Thanks a lot for these tips... Very usefull !

I'm just sorry to not have the "omega" directly on my keyboard...

But there are other unusual caracters with [ALT Gr] and caracter.

[ALT Gr] [B] => ß
[ALT Gr] [T] => þ
etc.

You have also [ALT Gr] [SHIFT] caracter...
