I would like to move from the portable app I’m running now to the installed version. I tried it but after setting up the sync location to the same as used in the portable version it syncs a bunch of files but i’m missing titles, etc. Is there something I need to move between the portable directory and the installed directory?
You could install the app, then overwrite the profile with your portable profile. The path to the profile will be indicated in the Config screen.
Sorry to reopen this thread.
But I have a similar problem: I'm using Joplin portable because my main disk has few spare space.
So, I use the portable version on another drive, with plenty of space.
Is there a way to move profiles from one drive to another?
I would like to install Joplin (starts faster) and use a profile stored on another drive.
I'm on windows 10.
TIA
tony
There are two things :
- to transfer the content of your profile
- to transfer the profile itself with his content.
I don't think the second thing is possible and I agree it would be very usefull.
For the first thing you have to create a new profil on the destination computer and import the .jex file of your content created from the source computer.
We are many to have an issue with space on our computers. So it wouldn't be necessary to use a portable version if it was possible to record in an installed version the joplin datas on an external disk.
