Line spacing: can I change the default to single spaced?

I've searched the forum and the FAQ, I understand that in using rich editor pressing ENTER starts a new paragraph which makes an extra line break.

Is there a way to change the default to always use single-spaced lines? It's so much easier to just hit ENTER twice to make a double space, than to always use SHIFT+ENTER to have a single-spaced note.

I'm using version 2.4.9 on Windows 10.
