Hi -- I just signed up for a Joplin Cloud trial, upgraded to 2.3.3 and switched sync target to Joplin Cloud. After the sync I get an error saying " Some items cannot be synchronised. [View them now]" and the items listed include almost every attachment I have. Each one says "Trying to upload resource, but only metadata is present." What does this mean, and is it possible to fix it?
Hi, most likely you didn't have all your data on your device when you switched the sync target, so it has the resource metadata but not the actual data. It would be better to export your notes as JEX then reimport and sync again.
Thanks, Laurent -- I did an export and brought it over to the new laptop with Joplin Cloud sync enabled and imported everything. I left it to sync overnight, then in the morning set up the client on a second machine, enabled Joplin Sync, and let it sync. And again I got a long list of sync errors.
I've used Joplin across multiple devices with Dropbox sync without ever seeing this problem. Does Joplin Cloud work differently? I'm not clear what's happening but it seems like I'm going to lose data if I switch my other devices over to Joplin Cloud sync.
No you would get the same errors if you had switched from Dropbox to anything else. There was some issue with your data but without knowing the details it's hard to tell what it is.
What are the sync errors you got in your last attempt?
