I'm not seeing any faults on Joplin Cloud at the moment so it might have been a one off. Could you give it another try to see if it works?
I've been having the issue since last night.
Cloud sync works on existing installations.
I've tried on 2 new Debian installations, one on hardware, and another in a vm, and I get the same error.
I also tried the Appimage of the prerelease, version 2.13.5 and got the same error.
It might be some issue specific to your data then. Would you mind posting your full log?
Also do you have a particularly slow connection in terms of upload?
Below is a copy of my log.txt file.
You will see that I deleted my Joplin config folders when installing the pre-release to test if that would resolve the issue.

Could you upload the log file again? This one appears to be a binary file, maybe a zip file, but I couldn't unzip it either

I discovered I can upload new files to Joplin Cloud. I just cannot download files from Joplin Cloud
I am also seeing this with a new install, old ones work fine. Using Joplin Cloud. This is on a macOS install of Joplin 2.12.19 (prod, darwin).
Also hitting the Gateway Timeout nginx/1.18.0 (Ubuntu)

Thanks for the reports, I indeed found out that certain queries take too long and time out. I'm going to apply a fix as soon as possible, probably tomorrow
