Is this still "alive"? It remains one of the items on my short-list (and becoming shorter) to be solved before I migrate from Evernote.
Just out of curiosity, what else is on your short list? I have never looked back since I moved away from EN, so I'm interested what your deal breakers are.

Actually, I spent some time reviewing my list of "Essentials" and "Nice to haves" the other day, after posting this question, and this is the only thing remaining on my list of "Essentials".
It is just so "barren" seeing a list of notes (for my Journal) with the only thing showing in the Note List is what I title my journal entries as, e.g. "2022-03-08 (Tuesday)"
Just to add some weight (ahem) to this request, if I were to document my weight in a journal entry on all or most days, and wanted to see the trend, in Evernote, I can just search for the tag (Wt:) and see a list of entries SHOWING THE WEIGHT for that day, in the Note List Panel:
The only way to see this info in Joplin is to search but then click on each note, OR add that info to the Note Title, which I an loath to do.

It should not be very difficult to write a python script in order to put the beginning of a note to substitute the title by the beginning. I made a dirty python script to remove doublons manually. Hello to this thread. Did a plugin ever get made? This is so so so damn essential to me. I really need to leave Evernote now and i love Joplin but cannot use it because it's missing this essential feature. I have so many notes that were never automatically titled by Evernote on my phone. I have thousands of Untitled Note. No problem in Evernote but in Joplin that's terrible.
IIRC the ability for plugins to add this functionality was added maybe days ago. So if there isn't yet, there will be, soon.

Plugin is ok but please always keep the option to turn "preview" off. I much prefer the simple and efficient note list of Joplin, which allows me to quickly find and click on a note without too much scrolling. I have descriptive note titles. It will be a disaster to scroll endlessly through the previews.
