I can't write or add anything in my notes on the Android app. I've pressed just about every button and nothing has happened and the only thing I can edit is the title. Am I just dumb or am I doing it wrong?
This is old (like very, very old). Please make sure that your system WebView is updated to the newest available version (if even possible, as some manufacturers used to only allow updating it via their own system updates).
If that doesn't work, you may also want to try enabling "use the plain text editor" in Configuration → Note.
I can confirm that there are issues with Joplin running on Android 6 via emulator (which is indeed very old, in fact it is at the boundary of the minimum supported version of Android with Joplin mobile).
The note contents in view mode are completely blank, and when I press the edit button they remain blank. If I enable plain text editor, I can view the contents correctly, but when exiting edit mode, the note contents go back to being blank. So it's not really usable when the rendered markdown is invisible. Note also that there are no errors in the log when viewing or editing the notes
Enabling "use the plain text editor" fixed it and I can finally type. I also tried installing WebView but that just made Joplin instantly crash if I try to edit a note. Thanks!
Glad this fixed it for you . What is interesting is I have a phone on Android 6.0.1 and I have no issues with this on the latest version of Joplin. But on the emulator on 6.0 I get the issue which I described. So the behaviour seems to be variable depending on what version of Android 6 is installed, and any issues are probably not caused by a regression in a particular version of Joplin
