I am new to Joplin and trying to figure out if I can use it to replace Evernote which has become too expensive. The issue I'm having is that I want to be able to edit the text in my existing notes using the mobile app. But it opens in Markup with all the HTML code and it's very hard to even find where I want to put the text.
Is there not a way to just view the actual text and edit it without seeing all the markup code? If not, it makes this app unusable.
You‘ll usually see your notes as markdown code, when you switch into edit mode.
If you see html-code (which is really bad to read, a lot worse than markdown from my point of view), the reason might be, that you imported your notes as html from somewhere. I suppose you did not create them in html yourself…
You need to import the notes again as Markdown. This is the only solution if you want to edit them on Android without dealing with all the HTML code. On desktop, the situation is a bit different, as you can still edit HTML notes comfortably with the Rich Text Editor.
Sorry to hear that, but to store notes in markdown is an essential part of Joplin. It‘s the reason your notes will survive, even if Joplin itself dies.
