I tried the -f utf-16le command but that didn’t help. However, I appreciate the suggestion. Where the “iconv” command was unsuccessful, I manually copied and pasted the note from SOHO Notes to Joplin.
Regarding using Joplin, I’m surprised how well it works, even by a computer novice such as myself. The “Welcome!” notebook was helpful, and I was pleased to find out that syncing to the iPhone Joplin app through DropBox worked without a hitch.
What I’m really trying to say is that I’m really impressed with open-source software such as Joplin, as when I tried Microsoft OneNote, it was a non-starter as I could never log on, hence never start to use the app! Also, the community technical support is far better and quicker than the tech. support offered by companies that make commercial software.
