How to control Sync

Operating system

Windows

Joplin version

2.14.20

Sync target

Joplin Cloud

What issue do you have?

Sync runs almost continuously and slows down the work I am doing; cut and pastes take up to 10 seconds; switching between notes takes noticeable time, sometimes the new title appearing over the old note before the note itself appears; the cursor does not track the mouse. Is there a way to pause, or to stop syncing, or to only sync manually?

Hello there,

Could you please post your Menu -- Help -- About Joplin info?

Thanks for the reply
The Sync Status page looks clean, no issues highlighted
I'll try the Safe Mode trigger if it begins again. At the moment everything is fine. The issue I described has reoccurred several times over the past couple of weeks. Thanks for the safe mode idea.

One potential cause is backup happening in the background. There's no progress bar, so it might load the computer and app without any visible sign to the user.

To check if it's correct, you may run backup manually or setup the short timer in the backup plugin settings and observe whether the experience match your issue.

Hope this helps

Did you have OCR enabled?

No OCR plugin and in Tools, Option, General I see no OCR reference, so I assume the answer is No. Thanks for asking
The sync has been acting fine since I posted the question -- no stalls, or grabbing the cursor, so am still monitoring.

In the menu, after you click on Tools => Create Backup, does it cause the same performance issue?
