How can I read only, but not edit, in mobile?

What issue do you have?

In the past, when I selected a note to view, it would display initially in "locked" mode, which would prevent me accidentally changing it. I had to choose an icon at the top to open the editor. Since the latest update, all notes display only in "edit" mode. I view my notes multiple times daily but only occasionally want to edit them. How can I restore the "read only" way of viewing notes?

Note: I use Joplin for privacy, but I am not tech savvy. Thanks for any advice.

As of version 3.6 of the mobile app, there should be a view/edit toggle button in the toolbar:
