You can sort the GitHub issues by tags good first issue to get a list of more approachable issues.
However the priority right now is completing the items on the roadmap so these issues might not be much of a priority. You can sort by the bug label to get a list of issues that need to be fixed and are more likely to be prioritized. I would recommend going through the list of bugs and see if there are any that interest you.
