It seems you're using windows 7. If so, check out this post

Do you still use Windows 7? don't upgrade your sync chain to 3.0

An unofficial and unsupported way to force the latest versions of Joplin to work under Windows 7 and 8 Steps Install VxKex. Install recent version (2.14+) of Joplin. The installation should proceed without errors. Go to the folder where the application is installed, find the EXE file (not a shortcut), go to its properties, and enable VxKex. Enjoy the latest versions of Joplin. Note: This method works for any applications written on Electron. Credit: XYZ-Moscow

Unfortunately, that suggestion has not helped. Same error

If you already installed vxkex try running Joplin through vxkexldr.exe by adjusting the paths in its shortcut properties as following [^1]

"C:\Program Files\VxKex\VxKexLdr.exe" "C:\Program Files\Joplin\Joplin.exe"

Adjust your paths if you have it different

Done. "C:\Program Files\VxKex\VxKexLdr.exe" "C:\Program Files\Joplin\Joplin.exe" which matches the install paths for VxKex and Joplin.

New error:

Which does not make sense. Where is it getting that path from?

Are you sure about Program Files (x86) / Program Files? Check the location of Vxkexldr.exe manually.

Last possible solution is to roll back to 2.12 of Joplin since it's the last supported version on Windows 7
