Decrypting orphaned resource files

I have found several large resource files that appear to be orphaned as I can't find any links for it in my notes (searched its key/generated file name). It is a .crypted file and I would like to decrypt it to make sure it is something I can get rid of. Is there a easy way to do that?

I thought unlinked/orphaned resources were automatically deleted? I have had these files for several months now, well past my kept history date.

What type of resource files are we talking about ? pictures ?

A lot of my resources are images, yes. But some are not. I have several over 25mb and I am trying to see what they are, but they are .crypted. files. Searching the ID shows nothing as I said, so I assume they are orphans and can be deleted. BUT I want to make sure.

In the past I have noticed that I can have .crypted files in resources that do not have an unencrypted counterpart as that unencrypted resource has previously been deleted and purged.

According to this post regarding .crypted files, they are just cache files and can be deleted.

Ah, thank you. I am still curious as to what some of the files are, but I assume they aren't that easy to decrypt and see at this point? Oh well, guess I will just delete them and move on.
