What issue do you have?
sync has not completed since 2 months ago, found recently that it is crashing to the OS each time sync gets to 100 deletions. please advise what to share to get a fix - latest update running on Pixel 7. urgent - thanks! also - does setting up a joplin server make the sync more reliable or does it become a new point of failure if you cannot access it at some point? if you move to server sync, can you easily switch back to dropbox sync? thanks!
attaching error log - seems to give up after too many deletion requests? tried turning on screen stay but still crashes while running joplin mobile. thanks!

Can you upload the main log via configuration, tools, log?
i attached it to the message.do you not see it?
Ok, I thought that was the sync, log but it does seem to be the correct one. I see there are many many revision deletions, which suggests the note history keep for setting was lowered on one of your devices and now many revisions need to be deleted.
Do you use a computer as well and use the desktop client? I think the best course of action would be on a desktop client, make sure all changes are synced. Then on Joplin Android, create a new profile, make sure the note history keep for setting is set to the same as your desktop client, and then sync your data from scratch. If that completes without any crashes, then there should be no more revisions which need to be deleted.
Yes, Windows client is the primary. So, you're saying basically wipe out the mobile app and start over? I did delete quite a few thousand notes over the last period. Still it should not CRASH - there should be some recovery mechanism to pick up where left off - all modern apps have this when handling large or large numbers of files yes? it has been 2 months since the last sync worked!
where can i find details on a new profile? don’t see the topic covered in the config menu.
Basically start over yes. I’m suggesting creating new profile instead of uninstalling the app, just in case starting over actually makes the situation worse.
Go to configuration, tools, manage profiles, to create a new profile.
It’s hard to determine the cause of the crash because I don’t think the mobile app creates crash dumps. But if you go to configuration, import / export, export debug report, maybe that log might help. I’m guessing its memory related though, because the sync process can read a lot into memory at once, and I think the app isolation either in React Native or the Kotlin limits the available memory to the app, so it is much less than the RAM which is available on your phone.
sync report attached. so make a new profile? then what?
default profile says i can’t delete it?

I try to create a new profile, but there's no action button. I type in the profile name and nothing happens. third try app crashes ?
fourth try to create a profile - enter name then click check mark which i guess means go - phone getting hot and no status messages or visual response of any kind. how is this supposed to work?
After creating a profile you need to tap the entry which you created, and you will then be able to switch.
Yes, you can’t delete the default profile currently. So up to you if you want to uninstall the app and re-install, or use a new profile so you have something to go back to if a full resync does not help.
Regarding the sync log, I couldn’t find anything useful, so I’m just going to assume it’s memory related and deleting so many revisions is causing a problem.
creating a new profile causes joplin to crash.
my memory is not huge - but still it should have error checking for such a condition - yes?
It's been two months since I've gotten the full sync. Wouldn't it be reasonable for an app such as this to alert me to the fact that it's starting up and the synchronize - set to every 5 minutes - has not completed for days?
So, what is the procedure for loading from scratch? How can I save my Dropbox settings and sorting settings and all the other settings I've changed please?
Maybe just uninstall, reinstall and set sync to Dropbox on the Android app, as its simplest and it seems like you cant do anything in the current state anyway.
There are some areas which the UI could be improved in Joplin, but what you’re seeing with the sync crashing is an abnormality, as in most cases people are syncing on Android without issues.
In terms of restoring your settings, certain settings are synced, but for the most part you will just have to set them again after a reinstall.
I'm sorry, but I must have forgotten how I set this up originally. I go to Synchronization, I choose Dropbox, and nothing happens. Then I go back, and then still nothing happens. I open the Sync Wizard. I say, use other supported sync targets. Nothing happens. How do I get the connection made to Dropbox? I must be missing something obvious here, but there's no button that says "go" or "save" or anything.
Go to synchronization, select Dropbox, click the save button in the top left. Then go back to the note list, open the sidebar and click the Synchronize button. Then it will ask for your Dropbox login. After logging in, click the Synchronize button once more
That thing that looks like an old floppy disk is a save button?
found the majority of the problem is sync of trash - which should never happen to mobile - when i ask the trash to be emptied on windows version - nothing happens - what to do?
