What issue do you have?
Hi!
Is it possible to "sync" two backups?
I have lost all pictures within joplin through the restore of an improper backup (tar -cvzpf * ...) so the ".resources" folder wasn't backed up. My failure.
I have an very old backup with all pictures which are very important.
And a new one (nearly 12 month apart) where it is not really important if there are some pictures missing.
I have now restored the old backup and all important pictures are back, but I'm missing the notes which I have created since then.
You can rename both jex files to tar and extract them. Then merge the contents with the desired precedence using a file explorer. Then import the resulting folder as a RAW backup instead of jex
Surely you want to do it the other way round? Take the old backup and copy the new backup over it. Any missing images in the new backup should then be merged with the ones in the old backup then I would expect.
Is the export as jex the preferred / better way of backup, not the way via backup (tar -cvzpf file.tgz /.../joplinfolder on the webdav-server)?
Yes jex is the preferred method to backup, but if you're able to do automatic backups on the server, that is a good as well just in case you don't have sufficient client side backups available
